Biological Safety for First Responders

October 3, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Biological Safety for First Responders is a two and a half hour workshop focusing on the history of biosafety, biosafety basics, university laboratories and associated research, regulatory aspects as well as Campus Emergency Response Teams (C.E.R.T.).

Campus Community Emergency Response Teams are modeled after the Community Emergency Response Teams (C.E.R.T.) used in Emergency Management throughout the United States. The Campus C.E.R.T. will be discussed as well as a similar program from industry. The Campus C.E.R.T. program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City will be explained and how it interfaces with the local Kansas City area First Responders and Emergency Management agencies.

The course is being provided FREE of charge to the First Responder community by the American Biological Safety Association. Participation is limited. This course will be a great opportunity for the San Diego area First Responders and the local biological safety community to network and begin partnerships in emergency response.  Please email firstresponder@absa.org if you are interested in attending.
